A Partner’s Story

Tamir Livschitz

I came to NKF after completing my LL.M. in New York in 2009. Prior to my stay in New York, I worked for several years as an attorney in a law firm abroad which, in spite of its size, had no rigid structures. I was able to look into different legal areas and I appreciated that. And so it was just as clear to me that on returning to Switzerland, I wanted a law firm that was not just a “top address”, but also one that was uncomplicated both in terms of atmosphere and professional approach. This is NKF.

I joined NKF as an associate in Corporate/M&A, and am now a partner in the Dispute Resolution team. The transition happened naturally. I initially focused on transaction-related mandates but over time, intentionally and corresponding to personal interests, I worked increasingly on cases. Even though I now specialise in Dispute Resolution, I still advise clients in commercial contracts. I certainly don’t lack variety in my job.

The variety of the work I do also means that I work together with different partners. I don’t know if we can speak of one NKF mindset, which is universal to all partners. While we all share values, even within a team, you will work with different lawyers who all differ in their way of working and thinking. It is that diversity of approach that provides our clients with full picture, comprehensive advice. It also facilitates junior lawyers to learn broadly from different approaches and to have the confidence to develop their own professional style.
