The rise of big data has created new challenges for the legal industry and there are ongoing debates about data ownership and control issues.

In our workshop we shall inter alia discuss the following topics:

• Legal issues related to data management such as data protection laws, data-sharing agreements, data ownership, open data licenses, secondary data usage copyright permissions and other intellectual property rights
• What is the framework for data ownership in Switzerland?
• What are the roles and responsibilities of data ownership?
• Who is the data owner under the Swiss Data Protection Act?

These Workshops will be limited in size in order to facilitate informal discussions and exchanges. Hence spots will be allocated on a first come – first served basis.
