Minority shareholder and former board member wins dispute against listed European travel agent corporation

On 31 July 2019, the Tribunal in an international Swiss Rules arbitration seated in Lugano, Switzerland, issued its final award. It upheld the claims brought by a minority shareholder and former board member, represented by Niederer Kraft Frey, against a listed European travel agent corporation. The dispute concerned the services rendered by the minority shareholder after the corporation had acquired the shareholder’s metasearch company back in the year 2013. The Tribunal confirmed the shareholder’s interpretation of its agreement with the corporation and accordingly ordered the corporation to pay full compensation for breach of contract and imposed the costs of arbitration onto the corporation.
