Niederer Kraft Frey boosts its M&A expertise by signing-up with Luminance

Niederer Kraft Frey is proud to announce to have chosen to deploy Luminance’s artificial intelligence (AI) platform as part of its broader AI initiative. With this important step NKF is able to provide its clients with best-in class AI technology support and thereby improve quality, efficiency and speed of its service offering in M&A due diligence and document management projects.

Developed by mathematicians from the University of Cambridge, Luminance harnesses proprietary machine learning algorithms to read and understand legal documents in a similar way to humans, coping with volumes and working at speeds that no human can match.

Till Spillmann, Luminance project leading partner at NKF, states: “As part of our broader AI initiative we were keen to explore how Luminance can enhance our day-to-day work on M&A transactions. Luminance convinced us in many respects and will supercharge our lawyers through its clustering capabilities which can assist in prioritising and reviewing large data sets in different languages at a much faster rate, whilst helping to uncover the areas of risk which may be missed during a manual review. Our clients will clearly benefit from improved quality, efficiency and speed, in particular in the context of large cross-border due diligence processes.” Furthermore, Till commented: “As a welcome side benefit we also believe that Luminance will serve as a catalyst for further enhancements of our service offering and help hiring and educating young talents.”
