Affidea acquires Die Berner Urologen AG and expands its urology network

Niederer Kraft Frey advised Affidea on the acquisition of Die Berner Urologen AG.

Through this acquisition, Affidea extends its integrated urology network — already comprising Uroviva centres in Zurich, Zug, Lucerne, and Solothurn — to the canton of Bern. Affidea Switzerland currently operates 39 centres and 12 laboratories across the country, employing more than 900 people, including over 130 physicians.

The acquisition advances Affidea’s strategy of building fully integrated, patient-centred care pathways — connecting early diagnostics, specialised treatment, and follow-up care within a single coordinated network. The addition of Die Berner Urologen AG further deepens the clinical depth of Affidea’s urology offering and improves access to high-quality urological care in the Bern region.

Berner Urologen AG was founded in 2021. With locations in Bern and Langenthal, the practice offers a comprehensive range of urological services, from diagnostic workups and conservative therapies to highly specialised surgical procedures, including robot-assisted and open surgery as well as modern endourological and microsurgical treatments. The team comprises nine urologists alongside medical and administrative staff.

The NKF team was led by Corporate/M&A partner Philippe Weber and Corporate/M&A senior associate Samuel Hochstrasser, working with associate Pascal Hodel and junior associate Sandja Kozina (both Corporate/M&A), and partner Janine Reudt-Demont and associate Luisa Egli (both Healthcare/Regulatory).
