SoftBank completes USD 200m Series A investment in Gravis Robotics AG

Gravis Robotics AG, a deep-tech robotics company spun out of ETH Zurich, has closed a USD 200 million Series A financing round with SoftBank as investor.

Gravis Robotics develops autonomous control systems for heavy construction machinery, enabling excavators and other equipment to operate across a full spectrum from AI-augmented manual control to full autonomy. Backed by SoftBank, Gravis plans to scale its autonomous systems globally, bringing physical AI to a trillion-dollar industry constrained by labor shortages.

Niederer Kraft Frey advised SoftBank on all Swiss law aspects of the transaction, working alongside Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP as lead counsel to SoftBank, with a team led by Michael J. Preston (Partner, London, Co-Leader of Cleary Gottlieb’s EMEA Private Equity Transactions Group).
